If music makes you shiver, your brain is special.

Have you ever felt a shiver run down your spine while listening to music?

Matthew Sachs has experienced this feeling, and that’s why he decided to study individuals who get shivers from music to see what causes this feeling.

His research involved examining 20 students, 10 of whom admitted to experiencing the aforementioned feelings related to music, and the other 10 who had never experienced such feelings.

He then recorded the brains of all participants.

He found that those who experience shivers when listening to certain songs actually have different brain structures than those who don’t.

This research showed that they tend to have a higher volume density of fibers connecting their auditory cortex and the areas that process emotions – this means that the two communicate better, reports the Telegraph. It is worth noting that Sach’s findings have been published in ‘Oxford Academic’.
