Matt Pinfield, radio host and former MTV VJ, hospitalized after ‘massive stroke’

TV and radio personality Matt Pinfield was hospitalized earlier this month after suffering a medical crisis.

The former MTV VJ, 63, suffered a “massive stroke” on Jan. 6, according to court documents obtained Thursday by USA TODAY. Pinfield’s daughter, Jessica Pinfield, filed a petition Monday in Los Angeles County Superior Court to place her father under a temporary conservatorship amid his health issues.

Per Jessica Pinfield’s filing, the radio host is “incompetent to make health and/or make financial decisions/ pay bills” following his stroke.

Pinfield has reportedly remained hospitalized since the health ordeal took place, a representative for the radio personality confirmed to Variety and Billboard.

USA TODAY has reached out to Pinfield’s rep for comment.

The day of his stroke, Pinfield shared a photo on Instagram that appeared to show him at work, with the host sitting in front of a camera.

“Starting another week with gratitude for a life surrounded by great people, life changing music, and unforgettable experiences that I never take for granted,” Pinfield wrote at the time. “(Here’s) to another week-another day-open heart and open mind. Let’s rock!”
