An asteroid could collide with Earth in 2032

A new asteroid has been discovered, it could hit Earth in 2032. It has been labeled 2024 YRA and has a diameter of 40-100 m.

The chances of hitting Earth are 1/83 and a collision could cause an explosion similar to the one that occurred in 1908 in Tunguska, producing a diameter of 1 km.

According to the European Agency ESA, this discovery has also been brought to the attention of the UN Task Force, and will be discussed at the next meeting next week in Vienna, to discuss response strategies.

ESA is currently monitoring it through the Planetary Protection Office to accurately calculate its trajectory and to assess the possibilities and possible risks. The topic of the possibility of a deviation of the trajectory of this asteroid will also be taken into account in the discussions next week.

It is currently located at a distance of 28 million km from Earth, but it is estimated that it will approach our planet in 2028, significantly narrowing the distance.
