A new planet has been discovered, very similar to Earth, and is located only 19 light years away from us.
It will serve above all as a laboratory for research into extraterrestrial life, thus helping to test new hypotheses thanks to its ideal characteristics.
It is the planet HD 20794 d, slightly larger than Earth, orbits a star similar to the Sun, and completes its rotation in 647 days.
Various telescopes have observed this celestial body over the last 20 years, and now the discovery and the results have been published in the journal Astronomy and Astrophysics by an international working group.
According to them, what makes this planet extremely interesting and suitable for testing is its position that falls within the characteristics of the habitable zone, that is, that water can exist in a liquid state, a necessary condition for the development of life as we know it.
