Woman claiming to be Madeleine McCann releases DNA results

Julia Wendell, a 23-year-old Polish woman, gained global attention in 2023 after claiming she was Madeleine McCann, the British girl who vanished in Portugal in 2007. Using the handle @IamMadeleineMcCann, Julia pointed to physical similarities and even appeared on Dr. Phil. After facing backlash and death threats, she apologized to the McCanns, admitting her childhood memories were unclear and that she suspected she was adopted.

Recently, Julia claimed new DNA tests, reviewed by an unnamed expert, “strongly suggest” a possible family connection to Gerry McCann. She alleged that her DNA matched samples taken at the crime scene, and that other features such as her eyes, teeth, and voice were also compared.

However, forensic expert Dr. Monte Miller noted the match wasn’t definitive, though it hinted at a potential family connection. He added that such matches could occur due to shared ancestry or other non-definitive reasons.

The McCann family has not made a public statement regarding the DNA results. Despite the claims, Julia’s parents insist she is their biological daughter, and neither they nor the McCanns are willing to undergo further DNA testing. The mystery of Madeleine McCann’s disappearance remains unsolved.”
