Tragic Incident: Two Virginia Beach Police Officers Killed in Late-Night Traffic Stop

Tragedy struck in Virginia Beach late Friday night as two police officers lost their lives during a routine traffic stop.

Officers Cameron Girvin and Christopher Reese initiated a stop on a Hyundai Sonata on February 21, 2025, at 11:27 p.m., due to an expired license plate. The driver initially refused to pull over, eventually coming to a halt at a dead-end street. Upon confronting him, the officers encountered resistance, as the driver became combative.

In a harrowing turn of events, the driver drew a handgun during the ensuing struggle, opening fire on both officers. Tragically, they suffered fatal wounds while trying to subdue him before he fled the scene. Backup units were dispatched immediately to search for the suspect. He was later found dead in a nearby shed, having taken his own life.
