Actress Denise Richards has come forward to share her experiences with sexual harassment early in her career, revealing that she was warned against speaking out, fearing she would be blacklisted from the industry.
“I was told I wouldn’t work again,” the 54-year-old actress shared with People, acknowledging her vulnerability during a time when she found herself without a job.
Despite these challenges, Richards expresses gratitude for the changes brought about by the #MeToo movement, which she believes has empowered individuals and provided them with a voice and necessary protections.
Reflecting on her past, Richards expressed pride in her daughters, who she described as being strong and assertive in expressing their views. “I wish I had the same confidence as them,” she admitted.
In addition to her experiences in the industry, Richards opened up about a traumatic incident from her youth. At the age of 15, she was a victim of sexual assault when a man attacked her on the street and attempted to drag her away. “I was frozen with fear and couldn’t scream for help,” she revealed.
