Actress Christina Fulton Sues Nicolas Cage and Son Weston Cage Over 2024 Assault Incident
Actress Christina Fulton has filed a lawsuit against actor Nicolas Cage and their son, Weston Cage, following a 2024 incident in which she was allegedly assaulted, leaving her with significant injuries.
According to a lawsuit filed on February 19 in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Fulton accuses Nicolas Cage of neglecting his son’s mental health issues and enabling his violent behavior prior to the incident. The lawsuit, as reported by People, claims that Cage failed to intervene despite being aware of Weston’s history of mental illness and violent tendencies.
The 57-year-old actress criticized Cage for not taking steps to address their son’s behavior. “Weston has a long history of mental illness and has assaulted and injured multiple people,” the lawsuit states. “Nicolas knew of Weston’s history but took no action to prevent him from committing acts of violence or causing harm to others.”
Fulton alleges that Cage repeatedly bailed Weston out of jail, drank with him despite his history of substance abuse, and financed his apartment in downtown Los Angeles, located next to Cage’s own residence. She also claims that Cage failed to ensure Weston received necessary mental health treatment, supported his “unhinged” lifestyle, and did not establish rules or guidelines to curb his harmful behavior.
“Nicolas knew or should have known that Weston posed a serious and imminent danger to others, including the plaintiff, given his history of violent assault, substance abuse, and mental instability,” the lawsuit asserts.
The incident occurred nearly a year after Weston Cage, 34, was accused of attacking his mother in April 2024. The altercation reportedly took place in the elevator, lobby, and parking lot of Nicolas Cage’s apartment building. Weston was arrested in July 2024 for the assault and was later released on $150,000 bail, paid by his father.
The lawsuit describes the assault as causing “severe and life-threatening injuries,” including a concussion, multiple bruises, a disfigured eye, a broken tooth, post-traumatic stress disorder, and psychological trauma. Fulton claims the injuries impacted her modeling and acting career, forcing her to halt filming for a Netflix series and miss promotional events for a brand. She also states that her reputation suffered as a result.
Christina Fulton is suing Nicolas Cage for negligent supervision, assault, and emotional distress. While the exact amount of damages she is seeking remains undisclosed, she is requesting that Nicolas Cage and Weston cover the costs of the lawsuit.
In response to the allegations, Nicolas Cage’s lawyer stated, “Christina Fulton’s claims against Nicolas Cage are absurd and frivolous. Weston Coppola is a 34-year-old man. Mr. Cage did not control Weston’s behavior in any way and is not responsible for the assault on Weston’s mother.”
