Transgender Actress Hunter Schafer Raises Concerns Over Male Designation on Passport
Transgender actress Hunter Schafer, well-known for her role in the acclaimed series “Euphoria,” has shared her experience of receiving a new passport that identifies her as male.
Although Schafer identifies as a woman, she indicated that she has never had a birth certificate. She believes the passport office may have assessed her application alongside her birth certificate, leading to the discrepancy.
She attributed this situation to a policy enacted by Donald Trump on his first day in office, which stated that the government recognizes only two genders.
Schafer expressed her surprise at the outcome, emphasizing that her intention in sharing this information is not to incite fear or influence others but to highlight her reality.
“I want to clarify that I don’t really mind being labeled as a man on my passport; it doesn’t change who I am. However, it does make life a bit more complicated,” she remarked, among other thoughts.
She also celebrated the resilience of transgender individuals, asserting that they will continue to exist proudly. “I will never stop being transgender. A label in my passport can’t change that. It’s time to move beyond this administration. I’m unsure of the next steps, but I felt it was important to share my experience,” she stated.
