Rapper Dank Demoss, whose real name is Dajua Blanding, is taking legal action against Lyft after a Detroit driver allegedly canceled her ride by claiming she “couldn’t fit” in his vehicle. Blanding posted a viral video of the incident, which shows the driver of a Mercedes-Benz sedan insisting that his car was too small for her. Even after she assured him that she would fit, he replied, “No, believe me, you can’t.” He then canceled the ride, suggesting that she should order a larger vehicle instead.
Describing the incident as discriminatory, Blanding has initiated a lawsuit, citing Michigan’s law against weight discrimination. Her attorney has likened the situation to acts of racial or religious bias, asserting, “Under the law, it’s the same.”
In response, Lyft condemned discrimination and reiterated its commitment to fostering inclusivity.
