Gamer Sets New Guinness World Record with Super Fast Super Mario Bros. Completion
A passionate video gamer has shattered a Guinness World Record by completing the iconic 1985 game Super Mario Bros. in an impressive time of 4 minutes and 54.565 seconds.
Niftski, an American gamer renowned for holding multiple records, attributes this remarkable achievement to years of dedicated gameplay on the Nintendo Entertainment System and countless hours fine-tuning his techniques. By incorporating every possible trick to minimize his time, he has mastered the art of speedrunning.
“I can’t emphasize enough the importance of the saying ‘practice makes perfect,’” he shared with Guinness World Records.
“I dedicate about 90 percent of my time to practice and the remaining 10 percent to actual runs. I think that’s a key factor in why I’ve succeeded in this game,” he explained.
His record-setting speedrun last January culminated in a time of 4 minutes and 54.565 seconds, earning him the title of the fastest Super Mario Bros. finisher. Utilizing an emulator and a computer keyboard for his attempt, Niftski admitted that he still has room for improvement.
“I’m driven to push every Super Mario Bros. world record down to at least 4:54.3 before I’ll feel fully satisfied,” he stated.
