An American man was apprehended at Newark Liberty Airport in New Jersey for attempting to smuggle a live turtle hidden in his pants during the security screening process.
The incident unfolded when a body scanner detected an anomaly, prompting airport security personnel to conduct a thorough search. During the search, officers discovered a bulge in the man’s pants, according to a report by the Associated Press.
When questioned, the man produced a turtle measuring approximately 12 inches long, which was wrapped in a small blue towel. He claimed that the turtle was his pet.
As a result of the incident, the man missed his flight, and the turtle was confiscated. It remains unclear whether the turtle was indeed his pet or why he felt compelled to carry it in his pants.
