Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour just had its first major surprise, and it came from none other than Miley Cyrus. On Thursday night (June 19), the southern star joined Queen Bey on stage at Paris’ iconic Stade de France, marking the live debut of their Grammy-winning duet “II Most Wanted.”

The magical moment made Cyrus the first official guest performer of the tour.

Many speculated that the “Flowers” singer was set to take the stage alongside Bey as she was already in town for Spotify’s Billions Club Live and was reportedly spotted sound-checking at the tour venue ahead of showtime.

Their duet “II Most Wanted,” the third single off Beyoncé’s genre-blending Cowboy Carter album, was released in March 2024 and quickly cemented itself as a fan favorite. The track earned the duo a Grammy win for Best Country Duo/Group Performance, intertwining their Nashville and Houston roots into a twangy ode to rebellion and that ride-or-die love.

According to Cyrus, she penned the song about two and a half years ago, but it wasn’t until Beyoncé reached out that it found its home. In an interview with W magazine, she explained that the track naturally reflected the shared spirit between them: “We don’t have to get country; we are country.”

With just a few stops left — including Houston, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, and a grand finale in Las Vegas on July 26 — Cyrus’ surprise only marks more surprises to come.
