Trump Acknowledges Possibility of US Involvement in Israel-Iran Conflict During ABC News Interview
During a telephone interview with ABC News on Sunday, former President Donald Trump acknowledged that US involvement in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran remains a possibility.
“We are not involved in it. It is possible that we could be involved. But at this point, we are not involved,” Trump stated.
When asked whether there was a specific timeline for Iran to return to negotiations, Trump replied, “No.”
“No, there is no timeline, but they are talking. They would like to make a deal. They are talking. They continue to talk,” he emphasized.
The upcoming US-Iran nuclear negotiations, scheduled to take place in Oman on Sunday, were canceled. However, Trump said that Iran “wants to talk and they will talk,” suggesting that recent escalations “may have actually forced a deal to be made sooner.”
Additionally, Trump expressed openness to involving Russian President Vladimir Putin as a mediator in the conflict. He noted that Putin had reached out to him directly.
“He’s ready. He called me about it. We had a long conversation about it,” Trump said.
