France has been hit by storm Herminia, which has brought its first consequences to French territory.
According to authorities, three regions are still under red alert since yesterday due to massive flooding, while the city of Redon has been almost isolated.
Surrounded by rivers, marshes and a canal, the Redon area in Ille-et-Vilaine, bordering Morbihan and Loire-Atlantique, which has almost 10,000 inhabitants, is particularly affected.
The city’s municipality has reacted by saying that the peak of the bad weather has not yet arrived and that tomorrow will most likely be the most dangerous day.
Meanwhile, President Emmanuel Macron has reacted on the X platform by expressing solidarity and thanking the service teams.
“Solidarity with the people there who are facing the floods. I know the mobilization and the situation created. Thank you for the work done by their teams and the state services, whose commitment I salute,” he added.
In total, more than 1,000 people have been evacuated in the Ille-et-Vilaine region since Sunday. These floods caused no casualties, but also caused significant damage to agriculture.
