Living in Australia means you may have to accept having a snake or two on your property from time to time.
But a Sydney man was horrified when a snake hunter discovered 102 of the slithering reptiles hiding in his garden.
David Stein had spotted several snakes in his backyard in the suburbs of Sydney and called reptile hunters to check.
By the time snake hunter Dylan Cooper finished digging in his yard, he had found a total of 102 snakes, five adults and 97 newborns, Reptile Relocation Sydney owner Cory Kerewaro told CNN on Thursday.
“Red-bellied black snakes are a type of venomous snake, and females are known to gather to give birth,” Kerewaro said.
Stein called the snake catchers at the opportune moment, according to Kerewaro, as the snakes would have been scattered around the neighborhood. “They had just been born and were ready to come out into the world. He called us at the right time.”
The snakes will now be released into a national park, Kerewaro added.
