Pope Francis interrupted his speech in St. Peter’s Square at noon today due to bronchitis, according to a report by the Associated Press.
“I apologize, I have difficulty breathing,” the Pope said, as he called on his aides to continue reading his speech, which was dedicated to the armed forces as defenders of peace.
The Pope’s message to Catholic soldiers is that they should not cultivate a spirit that favors war conflicts.
Two days ago, Pope Francis, due to respiratory problems, decided not to hold his official meetings in the Vatican’s Apostolic Palace and chose as an alternative venue the reception room in Santa Marta, inside the Vatican, where the Pope lives.
