Russia outlines two conditions that must be met if US wants peace in Ukraine

Russia’s deputy foreign minister said all of Vladimir Putin’s conditions for peace must be met if the US wants to end the war in Ukraine.

Echoing a possible peace deal, Sergei Ryabkov – who oversees relations with the US and arms control – said the conditions set out by the Russian leader in June last year must be met if negotiations are to take place, writes skynews.

It is reported that those conditions are:

Ukraine must give up its NATO ambitions;

Ukraine must withdraw its troops from the entire territory of four Ukrainian regions mainly controlled by Russia.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump announced at the weekend that “progress” has been made in talks to end the war.

He told reporters that he had spoken with the Russian president, the first officially acknowledged conversation between Putin and a US president in about three years.
