Robert Redford Returns to the Screen After a Six-Year Absence

Robert Redford Makes His Acting Comeback in “Dark Winds” After Six-Year Break

American actor Robert Redford, 88, has made a return to acting after a six-year hiatus by starring in the series “Dark Winds.”

In addition to his acting role, Redford serves as an executive producer alongside George R.R. Martin. The two iconic figures made a special appearance in the premiere episode of the show’s third season.

In a notable scene, Redford and Martin portray prisoners alongside the series’ main character, Navajo police officer Joe Leaphorn, played by Zahn McClarnon.

According to reports, the scene featuring Redford and Martin was filmed on a closed set, a request made by Redford himself.

Chris Eyre, the episode’s director, revealed that the idea for Redford and Martin’s cameo originated in the first season, and he initially felt nervous about collaborating with the legendary actor. “Bob was incredibly good, and both of them were fantastic that day,” Eyre recalled. “I remember Zahn coming in before we started shooting and saying, ‘You’re doing a scene with Robert Redford; this is incredible.’”

Before “Dark Winds,” Redford’s last film role was in 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame,” where he reprised his character from 2018’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” He announced his retirement following his performance in “The Old Man & The Gun.”
