A couple who own a £1 million (approximately €1.2 million) apartment along London’s South Bank are expressing their dissatisfaction with a neighboring building.
They claim that a towering 17-story office block is obstructing natural light from entering their flat, making it difficult for them to read, according to reports from British media.
Stephen and Jennifer Powell, retired residents on the sixth floor of their apartment complex, feel the situation has reached a point where they are demanding the demolition of the £35 million (around €42 million) Arbor Tower.
Together with their neighbor, Kevin Cooper, they are seeking an injunction against the tower’s developer, Ludgate House Ltd., contending that the structure infringes upon their “right to light.”
However, the developer’s legal representatives have suggested that the simplest solution for the couple is to simply turn on a light.
The Powells have resided in their apartment since 2002, while Mr. Cooper moved in in 2021. Arbor Tower was completed in 2019.
