Kathy Bates’ Most Challenging Role: Battling Cancer and Championing Lymphedema Awareness
Kathy Bates, the acclaimed actress celebrated for her unforgettable performances in Misery, About Schmidt, and American Horror Story, has confronted challenges far beyond those depicted on the screen. Now 75, Bates is not only a two-time cancer survivor but also lives with lymphedema, a chronic condition that arose from lymph node removal during her cancer treatments.
Following her diagnosis of ovarian cancer in 2003 and breast cancer in 2012, Bates underwent a double mastectomy.
