Sydney Sweeney rose to prominence playing Cassie Howard on the hit TV series Euphoria, alongside Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, and Alexa Demie. In her portrayal of Cassie, she had to film numerous nude scenes, making comfort with minimal clothing a crucial aspect of her performance.
Beyond Euphoria, which opened doors to roles in films like Anything But You and Immaculate, as well as the TV series White Lotus, Sweeney has revealed that her experience playing Cassie also helped her build confidence.
In an interview with W magazine, she was asked whether it was challenging to act without clothes. Her response might surprise some: no.
“I think I gained a lot of confidence and self-awareness playing Cassie,” she explained. “I think the female body is a very powerful thing.”
This isn’t the first time Sweeney, who also stars in The Handmaid’s Tale, has spoken about nude scenes. She previously told The Hollywood Reporter that her goal is to shift public perceptions of actors who film such scenes.
“I have no problem with those scenes and I’m not going to stop filming them,” she said. “But I wish there was an easier way to have an open conversation about what we assume about actors in the industry.”
She emphasized that viewers often forget to separate her as a person from her characters, highlighting the importance of understanding the distinction.
