Madonna Faces Backlash from Fans for Being Called a ‘Hypocrite’ After Sharing Raunchy Photos and Encouraging Self-Love
Madonna, the iconic Material Girl, found herself at the center of controversy after sharing several provocative photos on her Instagram, prompting some fans to accuse her of hypocrisy. The 66-year-old singer posted images of herself wearing knickers and a white vest, along with a caption urging followers to “Love the Skin you’re in”—adding a Pride flag and a blue heart emoji to the message.
In the photos, Madonna styled her blonde hair in loose waves, highlighted her dark eyeshadow, and posed with a white flower as a prop while pouting for the camera. She also included the hashtag #VeronicaElectronica, referencing the remix album she is set to release on July 25, which is connected to her 1998 album Ray of Light.
While many fans praised the singer for her confidence and message of self-acceptance, others criticized her for apparent contradictions. One comment read: “Love the skin you’re in but you use filters all the time lol.” Another quipped, “And if you don’t love the skin you’re in, fill it full of injectables,” implying a perceived inconsistency. A different user simply commented: “Oh, the irony.”
Despite the criticism, Madonna received praise from supporters who celebrated her ongoing reinvention and her role as a symbol of freedom. One fan wrote: “The essence of a woman who continues to defy patterns, break barriers, and reaffirm her place as the queen of reinvention.” Others lauded her appearance, with comments like, “Wow, beautiful,” and “It doesn’t matter who’s in office because Madonna will forever be the queen of pop.”
In addition to these posts, Madonna shared a series of selfies on her Instagram Story, revealing a dramatic change in her look—she went from her signature blonde to a brunette. One of the posts carried a heartfelt message: she explained that her new hairstyle was inspired by her late mother, Madonna Fortin, who passed away when Madonna was just five years old. The singer wrote over one of the photos: “I missed my Mother so I channeled her.”
Madonna’s mother died when she was young, and she was raised by her father, Silvio ‘Tony’ Ciccone, who is now 93, and her late stepmother, Joan Ciccone, who died last year at age 81. Joan, who had briefly worked as a housekeeper for the family, married Tony in 1966, three years after the death of his first wife.
