Ontario Couple Hits Jackpot Again with Nearly $70,000 Lottery Win
An Ontario couple has struck gold for the second time, winning a lottery prize of nearly $70,000—12 years after their first triumph of the same amount.
According to the Ontario Gaming and Lottery Corporation, Burlington residents Nancy and Robert Whitten secured a prize of $69,712.16 by matching the last six out of seven Encore numbers in the Lotto 6-49 drawing held on December 21, 2024.
Having been married for 41 years, the couple previously won the same amount from an Instant Cashword ticket back in 2012.
“We were at home together when we scanned our Lotto 6-49 ticket using the OLG app,” Nancy recalled to OLG officials. “Robert was right beside me when I realized we had won. It just didn’t seem real! I double-checked our ticket three times to ensure I wasn’t mistaken. We were completely stunned.”
“It’s hard to wrap our minds around winning again,” Robert added. “We shared the news with our son, and he was thrilled for us.”
The couple plans to use their winnings to pay off bills and renovate their bathroom, making their home even more enjoyable.
