An Ontario woman was joyfully reunited with her cherished cat after 7 years and 4 months apart, thanks to the pet’s microchip.
The Windsor/Essex Humane Society announced on social media that the cat, named Julio, went missing in November 2017. Despite being microchipped, Julio “somehow managed to evade capture” while his owner conducted a thorough search, including placing numerous public notices.’
Over the weekend, Julio appeared at the shelter, where staff scanned him for a microchip and discovered his owner’s contact information.
“I had lost all hope. Hearing that he was alive and found yesterday was unbelievable! I’m still in shock,” the cat’s owner shared with shelter officials.
She noted that Julio is adjusting well at home, stating, “He’s been so happy to be cuddled and listening to relaxing cat music.”
The owner emphasized that this long-awaited reunion serves as “proof that we should never lose hope.”
