Mariah Carey has expressed her frustration over the label of her album “The Emancipation of Mimi” being referred to as a “comeback album” during her impressive 30-year career.
In a recent interview with People, the 56-year-old singer shared, “It used to bother me when they called it a comeback album… now I’ve come to accept it. But seriously, how many comebacks do I need to have?”
The 2005 album, featuring collaborations with Snoop Dogg and Jermaine Dupri, arrived just three years after her previous release, Charmbracelet, and went on to become one of her most successful works, selling over 10 million copies globally.
As she celebrated the 20th anniversary of The Emancipation of Mimi, Carey took to social media to reflect, stating, “This album includes some of my biggest hits, as well as songs that hold a special place in my heart.” She highlighted “Fly Like a Bird” as one of her most cherished and significant tracks.
A special edition of The Emancipation of Mimi is set to be released on May 30, with Mariah hinting at exciting surprises for her fans in the days ahead.
