Sean “Diddy” Combs Accused of Brutally Attacking Cassie After Alleged Affair; Prosecutors Claim He Physically Abused and Exploited Her During 11-Year Relationship

Sean “Diddy” Combs Accused of Brutally Attacking Former Girlfriend Cassie Fine as Trial Begins

Sean “Diddy” Combs faces serious allegations of assault against his former girlfriend, Casandra Fine (formerly known as Cassie Ventura), as his criminal trial gets underway. According to HipHopDX, opening statements from the prosecution on Monday (May 12) described the violent abuse Cassie suffered during their 11-year relationship.

Prosecutor Emily Johnson stated that Combs “physically abused” and “exploited” Fine, becoming violent after suspecting she was involved with another man.

Sean “Diddy” Combs attended the Pre-GRAMMY Gala and the GRAMMY Salute to Industry Icons honoring him on January 25, 2020, in Beverly Hills, California.

“Furious, he went looking for her,” Johnson explained. “He threatened to kill the man if he found her.” When Combs, a native of Harlem, located Fine, he allegedly attacked her “brutally,” kicking her in the back and throwing her around as if she were a rag doll.

Johnson also revealed that Combs allegedly threatened to blackmail Fine with videos of her engaging in sexual acts with male sex workers, claiming he kept “souvenirs of the most humiliating nights of her life.”

In May, footage was released showing Combs violently assaulting Fine in March 2016. The judge has permitted the video to be shown to the jury despite objections from Combs’ legal team. Fine is expected to testify against Combs, using her real name.

Additional details about their tumultuous relationship were shared during the opening statements. According to NBC News, Fine officially ended her relationship with Combs after the death of Kim Porter in 2018.

“When Combs said Kim Porter was his soulmate, Cassie realized she would never be that for him,” said defense lawyer Teny Geragos. “She understood she would never be his wife or the love of his life.”

Geragos emphasized, “We’re not denying that Combs has a history of aggressive behavior or drug use, but those aren’t federal crimes. For example, his known love of baby oil isn’t illegal.”

On May 12, 2025, Quincy Brown, Chance Combs, D’Lila Star Combs, Jessie Combs, Love Combs, Justin Combs, and Christian King Combs—children of Sean “Diddy” Combs—arrived at the Southern District of Manhattan Federal Court in New York City for the continuation of jury selection in Diddy’s trial. The rapper and mogul faces charges including sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation for the purpose of engaging in prostitution.

According to the outlet, Combs’ children—Christian, Justin, and Quincy—along with daughters Chance, Jessie, and D’Lila, and his mother Janice, were all present in the courtroom during the opening statements.

Combs’ legal team plans to portray him as an “aggressive,” “violent,” and “capable of physical confrontation” individual as part of their defense. NBC News also reported that the jury was advised that their role is not to judge morality, and they were told that all the alleged victims were willing participants.

The Grammy-winning artist has entered a plea of not guilty to charges including sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transporting individuals for the purpose of engaging in prostitution.
