Kourtney Kardashian Voices Criticism of the American Education System

Kourtney Kardashian Criticizes the Traditional Education System and Considers Homeschooling

Television star Kourtney Kardashian has expressed her belief that the American education system is outdated and revealed that she has seriously considered homeschooling her children.

The 46-year-old mother of four—Mason (15), Penelope (12), Reign (10) with ex-partner Scott Disick, and Rocky (18 months) with husband Travis Barker—shared her views during her sister Khloé’s podcast, Khloé in Wonder Land. The conversation also touched on their sometimes tense relationship with their sister Kim Kardashian. Kourtney emphasized the importance of values she believes are essential for raising children and living authentically.

“I just love challenging the flow of things. I like to question traditional ways of doing things,” she said.

When Khloé asked if her desire to deviate is merely to be different, Kourtney clarified, “No, I think living authentically means not conforming to what others expect. There are many ways to do things—like education. Honestly, I wonder, ‘Why do kids go to school?’ It’s an outdated system.”

Khloé quickly supported her, saying, “Oh, I’m all for homeschooling. Don’t provoke me now!”

Kourtney shared that she’s received videos from her children showing successful individuals who were not educated in traditional schools.

“And I think, ‘What’s the point of this? If I’m going to homeschool, then I’ll do it!’ I’m open to all options,” she added.

She also discussed her approach to her children’s health care, favoring more natural methods.

“When my kids have a fever, I prefer to care for them myself rather than immediately giving Tylenol or ibuprofen. That’s just my way. In many parts of the world, that’s normal, but in the U.S., it’s seen as unconventional,” Kourtney explained.

Regarding family life with her husband Travis Barker, who has children Landon (21), Alabama (19), and Atiana (25) from previous marriage to Shanna Moakler, Kourtney said their blended family has enriched her life.

“I love my role as a stepmother because I don’t feel it’s my job to discipline. Travis handles the tough stuff, and I try to give advice and be a good role model,” she said.

She admitted that blending two families can be challenging at times: “There are days when it feels really hard to bring two families together. But even on the hardest days, there’s more love. It’s a deeper, richer life,” Kourtney concluded.
