Australia Battles Severe Flooding with 5 Deaths and Thousands Stranded by Heavy Rain

Severe Flooding in New South Wales, Australia: At Least Five Dead and 10,000 Properties Damaged

Severe flooding in southeastern Australia has resulted in at least five fatalities and caused extensive damage to around 10,000 properties in New South Wales. Australian authorities have begun efforts to repair the destruction caused by the devastating floods.

Emergency services in New South Wales reported ongoing assessments of the damage caused by the recent floods, which have swept through the region in recent days.

Premier Anthony Albanese, who was forced to cancel his visit to Taree on Friday due to the floods, expressed his concern, saying it was “terrible to hear the news of further loss of life.”

The torrential rains led to rivers overflowing, triggering widespread flooding that has trapped approximately 50,000 residents. Many stranded individuals sought refuge on rooftops while waiting for rescue teams to arrive.
