Barack Obama Dismisses Divorce Rumors with Heartfelt Mother’s Day Message to Michelle
Former U.S. President Barack Obama has put to rest recent divorce speculation with a touching Mother’s Day tribute to his wife, Michelle.
“Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers and incredible mother figures!” Obama wrote on the X platform (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, sharing a photo of Michelle with their daughters, Malia (26) and Sasha (23).
He added, “Michelle Obama, my girls and I are so lucky to have you in our lives. We love you,” concluding his message with warmth and affection.
This heartfelt post came amidst rumors about a potential split between the Obamas, fueled in part by Michelle’s absence from several high-profile events, including President Jimmy Carter’s funeral in January. She also missed President Donald Trump’s second inauguration that same month.
During a recent appearance on the “Diary of a CEO” podcast, Michelle addressed her absence and the surrounding speculation.
“People couldn’t believe I was saying no for any reason other than taking care of myself,” she explained. “They assumed my marriage was falling apart.”
Michelle, 61, emphasized that her decisions were rooted in doing what was right for her. She revealed she attended Trump’s first inauguration in 2017 but found it emotionally challenging to participate again.
“It took all my strength to not do what was perceived as the ‘right’ thing, but to do what was truly right for me,” she shared. “That was a difficult choice, but one I stand by.”
The Obamas’ loving message and Michelle’s openness have helped clarify the situation, reaffirming their strong bond and commitment.
