New Biopic About Donald Trump in Development with €90 Million Budget

A new biographical film about Donald Trump is currently in production, aiming to portray the former president in a more favorable light than previous biographies — supported by a substantial budget.

Last year, the film The Intern, starring Sebastian Stan as Donald Trump, was released. Set during the 1970s and 1980s, it depicts Trump’s early career as a real estate developer long before he entered politics and became a global figure.

Trump himself has criticized the project, calling it a “slanderous and politically vile attack” designed to undermine his reelection campaign last fall. However, the upcoming biopic is believed to adopt a lighter tone, which Trump may find more appealing.

Presentation at Cannes

While many details remain under wraps, Deadline reports that approximately €90 million is being invested in the film. The project currently lacks a title and is expected to be presented to potential investors at the Cannes Film Festival this month. A director and lead actor to portray the 78-year-old Trump have yet to be announced.

Andrea Iervolino, known for producing Ferrari and To the Bone, is involved in the project and will oversee its development. This film marks another cinematic depiction of Trump’s life, alongside Iervolino’s previous work.

It remains unclear whether Trump himself will participate or consent to the project. Iervolino hopes to commence filming in late 2025.

Describing the film, Iervolino states it as “a major new biography focusing on the life and legacy of Donald J. Trump — real estate mogul, television icon, and the 45th and 47th president of the United States.” Despite Trump’s decades in the public eye and his first presidential term beginning in 2017, The Intern was the first Hollywood production to portray him.
